Maintaining your skin’s natural barrier is one of the best things you can do to keep your skin healthy and glowing! This will result in less aggravated acne.
The great thing is you can use skincare you currently have to complement our facemasks to achieve glowing, clear skin!
The skin barrier function refers to the outer most layer of the skin, also known as the epidermis or stratum corneum. It protects the body from the external environment and is designed to retain water and keep bacteria, microbes, and other external invaders out.
The strength and integrity of this barrier not only keeps our skin looking healthy and moisturised, it also plays a role in its clarity.
We recommend the following steps for a healthy complexion:-
Exfoliate - slough away dead skin cells and bad bacteria which clog up pores, giving the mask a chance to penetrate the skin to hydrate and detoxify.
Charcoal Mask - draws toxins, bad bacteria and heavy metals without stripping natural oils. This regulates excess oil resulting in less acne.
Moisturise while your skin is still damp - If the skin barrier lacks moisture the skin turns to Plan B which is using the skin’s oil to replace the moisture - resulting in more acne.
Next week we are going to talk about how acne is formed, how facemasking assists in clearing acne and preventing it from forming!
Here is a picture of a young lady who is using our masks - she has been following our three step system and pleased to say it is keeping her acne at bay! She says that it has helped her confidence and she feels less conscious of her skin - all good for our teenagers!
